Friday Night Gros Islet "Jump Up"
Huge street party in the fishing village of Gros Islet every friday night.. Center streets are blocked off, huge speakers are put in place and the DJ plays everything from soca, calypso and reggae. St. Lucians and tourist partying in the streets.
Some men can be a little intrusive with the dancing, so ladies be aware! Not a place recommended for children or teenagers (especially girls).
Local vendors set up makeshift stands selling beer, fried fish, grilled chicken, conch plates, shots of homade spiced rum, soda, and water.
Have a good time, but don't get pissy drunk to the point you are wondering off with strange people you've never met. Don't set yourself up to get robbed.
If you are into people watching, this is it. Party starts around 9pm.
Tip: Arrange to have a taxi drop you off and pick you up at a specific time and designated place.
